MEDIA ADVISORY - PORT AUTHORITY OF NEW YORK AND NEW JERSEY WELCOMES FIRST FLIGHT OF AIRBUS A380 TO THE U.S.

Aviation history will be made next week when the premier international gateway in the United States – John F. Kennedy International Airport – welcomes for the first time the Airbus A380, the world’s largest passenger aircraft.

The route-proving flight with more than 500 passengers – operated jointly by Lufthansa and Airbus – will arrive at Terminal 1 at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, March 19. Camera positions to film and photograph the aircraft’s arrival can be accessed from the Terminal 1 food court on the upper level. Media wishing to cover this event should arrive at the terminal by noon. Parking is available in the lot or garage across from the terminal. Reporters and camera operators must wear flat shoes with rubber soles to access the viewing area.

Following a press conference, media will be permitted to tour the aircraft later in the afternoon, but access will be limited to those who RSVP in advance by calling 516 296-9671 or emailing americaspr@dlh.de. Staff from Lufthansa and Airbus will handle aircraft tours.

Media representatives must present valid press credentials and photo identification to film and tour the aircraft.
