Default Flyseelskapene klager på den nye BKK flyplassen

Ikke alle er like fornøyde med den nye flyplassen flyplassen i BKK
Både organisatoriske og kapasitetsmessige problemer meldes det.

Airlines slam Suvarnabhumi

Meeting with Tourism and Sports Minister Suvit yields complaints about aircraft parking, capacity and more, with one saying it’s the world’s dirtiest airport.

At a meeting late last month, several airlines suggested that Tourism and Sports Minister, Suvit Yodmani recommend to the Suvarnabhumi Airport to increase aircraft parking area, while telling him the airport was considered one of the dirtiest in the world.

The minister met with 11 airlines: Thai International Airways, Bangkok Airways, Qantas Airlines, British Airways, Lufthansa, Northwest Airlines, Japan Airlines, China Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific, and Austrian Airlines at Suvarnabhumi Airport to listen to the problems at the new airport.

They all expressed numerous concerns about the condition of facilities particularly related to customer service.

Individual comments are not identified by this publication. There are reports that AOT allegedly takes punitive action against individual airline managers critical of its operations.

Managers cite the case of a Middle East Airline that faced delays the assignment of its lounges and office space following critical comments made by the airline’s general manager at an open meeting with the AOT.

During the meeting with Mr Suvit, one European airline said aircraft parking was too small and with the growth of low-cost airlines space would be inadequate. The Airports of Thailand should consider expanding parking almost right away.

The airlines added that the airport had already reached its capacity, and next year it will only increase to 45 million flights per year.

Meanwhile, another leading airline at the meeting claimed Suvarnabhumi may be the dirtiest airport of the world, though the airport came increased charges and fees. The airline said the AOT has not properly managed its maintenance.

A European airline said its visa checking should be adjusted by April 2007 in line with the announcement that transit passengers must identify themselves at the first destination to which they arrive.

The airline said that passengers flying from Vienna to Phuket would have to declare themselves at Suvarnabhumi Airport instead of Phuket.

The other airlines pointed to several other problems, such as security, which should be better organised, and high living costs for the airlines’ staff. The staff are reporting the price of food is too high and the transportation costs are twice as much as charged for Don Muang Airport .
