It's a good start to go to the airport, even if you'll leave it right away for the place to spot aircrafts. You can take a taxi, or walk to the spot, but remember that it's some 6 km away, so comfortable shoes is a must!

Spotting from the terminal, with airconditioning...just go through customs...enter the departure lounge...and view from the lounge..., leave via arrivals..nobody asks for your boardingpass

If you decide to take a taxi, you can go to Las Puntillas. Write the name of the small village down, it's difficult to get the driver to understand otherwise, they usually don't speak any english! He will go south of the airport and out on the motorway, direction Arguinegu¡n. But he will then turn off, just a few minutes of driving. You will then get to an roundabout and turn left, go under a bridge and then get to an new roundabout. Tell the driver to go slightly to the left and down a small hill. That's the place to step out. Than you just go down right on one small road and you will see a big dusty field. Go just across the field and you will end up against a fence with some 20 cm between the poles. This will give you a view over the end of the runway and the taxiway, actually exactly at the hold point for this runway. An normal 70-300 zoom is sufficient for the task!

If you decide to walk, start by going south (left) from the international departurehall, direction Arguinegu¡n. Soon enough you will get to a road with cars parked along the sides. Watch for a parkingarea and go up to that area. Close to the motorway you will find a small path in the dusty field, and you just follow it up and down the hills. Soon you will get to an gravelled road, follow that one and it will take you, close to a fence, along the outskirts of the airport. This road turns right and then left and ends up in Las Puntillas. Continue to walk on the road that appears a little more and then turn left. Turn right the next way and you will get to the place described above, were the taxi shall drop you off (close to an roundabout).

There's some traffic on the roads on the airport area and the security is not always that understanding. Normally they don't bother, but sometimes they can be a bit grumpy. A hint can be to try hide the camera when they pass, then they will probably not take any note of you at all!
