De må først igjennom en lovpålagt fredningstid som vel er på min. 30 dager før en streik kan starte.
Og hvis jeg forstår det riktig kan føderale myndigheter (husker ikke navnet på organisasjonen/ etaten) i denne perioden legge frem forslag til avtale som partene må ta stilling til. En form for mekling mellom partene.

American Airlines hadde også en tilsvarende konflikt i sommer med sine FAs som ble løst (med hjelp av myndighetene?) i nevnte fredningsperioden.
