Boeing Plans to Launch
Freighter Version of 777

Boeing Co. will announce on Tuesday that it plans to officially launch a freighter version of the popular twin-engine 777 jetliner, another sign that the company is seeing growing demand among its customers for new freight haulers.

Boeing began offering the 777 freighter for sale last year, but its board only recently determined that there is enough interest in the new plane to actually launch the program. Air France and Air Canada, both of which recently announced plans to buy the plane, are expected to become launch customers.
