Air Baltic airBaltic selger flybilletter på Rimi (i latvia)

airBaltic Introduces an Innovative Prepaid Ticket
Riga, 30.10.2007

The Latvian airline airBaltic is pleased to introduce the E-voucher – the first prepaid airline ticket in the Baltic States and Northern Europe to be sold in supermarkets. This is a novel approach in the region for distributing airline tickets, and it will bring travel even closer to people in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.

Bertolt Flick, president and CEO of airBaltic: “The growth of air travel has been remarkable over the past several years. Flying is increasingly perceived as a common and ordinary way of traveling. From today, it will become even more commonplace as prepaid airline tickets are introduced and sold through supermarkets. Customers can put them in their shopping cart along with bread, milk and sausages.”

Head of the biggest retail network in Latvia Rimi Latvia Valdis Turlais acknowledged that he was satisfied about the possibility to offer Rimi customers the special product. „It is important for us that in Rimi shops customers could receive everything they have been expecting and at the same time offer something unexpected – the possibility to purchase a flight in a shop. With this convenient and simple offer we hope to encourage people to allow fulfilling their dreams and travel.”

E-vouchers are issued in limited numbers. In Latvia and Estonia they will be available at Rimi shops during the first week of November. In Lithuania, E-vouchers will be sold at Maxima supermarkets between October 30 and November 5. The value of the E-voucher is LVL 29/LTL 149/ EEK 649, which covers the full price of a ticket, including all taxes and fees.

E-vouchers can be exchanged for tickets for almost all of airBaltic’s nonstop flights from Rīga, Tallinn and Vilnius. One voucher is the equivalent of a one-way ticket. A roundtrip requires two E-vouchers – one to travel from Rīga to London, for instance, and the other to return home.

E>-vouchers as such are not valid travel documents and must be exchanged for tickets at www.airbaltic.com between November 1 and November 15. E-vouchers are valid for flights from November 9 till December 19 and from January 6 till March 12.
