Eventually, our five combis will be replaced by a fleet of three dedicated 737-700 freighters, one of which is already in service.

Each combi flight holds four cargo containers called “igloos” — weighing anywhere from 12,000 to 14,000 pounds. The combi can carry just about anything, including boxes of groceries, bouquets of flowers, brand-new cars or even reindeer.

Wayne Coleman, Alaska Airlines lead ramp service agent in Juneau, said “If it fits, it can fly.”

Large/side cargo door er plassert foran vingen på B737. På de mest utrustede -200C var det i tillegg til gravel kit også integrert trapp i bakdøra på venstre side, slik at man er uavhengig av utvendig trapp og kan boarde og deboarde pax uavhengig av fraktkabinen foran. Dette utstyret hadde også Busy Bee LN-NPB.

Noen få -700 har også large cargo door, bl. a TAAG Angola og US Air Force/Navy. Noen av de militære har også integrert trapp bak.

Det er vel litt av balanse aarsaker ogsaa, selv om -700 ikke er like baktung som -800 er det vel en fordel aa laste fra front....

Ja, absolutt, spesielt for av- og pålasting hvor man fort kan få trøbbel hvis siste pallen er tung. Man ville bare skapt problemer med dør bak.

Det var litt overraskende at Alitalia fikk levert sine MD-11C med fraktdøren bak. Men den har jo ganske lang fremkropp, selvom halen jo er ekstra tung med motor og greier. B777F har jo også plassert døra der. Mer logisk at B747 har stor dør bak og ikke foran (på siden).

Naar det gjelder MD-11 Combi er jeg helt enig, MD-11 var vel baktung - har jo sett noen Cargo varianter som har "satt seg paa halen" opp igjennom aarene Men det var vel ogsaa av Passasjer Comfort hensyn, noe som sikkert gav endel rutiner for lasting / lossing.

MD11 er generelt ekkel, loadcontrolmessig sett. Spesielt når den er full. Men holder man et par paller i ener'n, så vil den ikke gå på hekken uansett hva man gjør. De som går på halen synder mot dette.
