OBB 19 JAT -> Air Serbia

Gammelt nytt nå, men..

"Jat Airways and Etihad Airways have today formalised their cooperation which is to lead to the eventual minority takeover of Jat on behalf of Etihad. The CEO of Jat Airways Vladimir Ognjenović and his Etihad counterpart James Hogan held a press conference in Belgrade this morning announcing what the initial cooperation entails.

Etihad Airways will now embark on a four to six week screening process during which it will go through Jat’s business structure and prepare for a 49% takeover of the airline. Etihad is to take complete control over Jat’s management, naming its own CEO, head of finance and operations. Etihad will also partially finance the 1998 order made by Yugoslav Airlines for eight Airbus A319s, which have never been delivered. The national carrier of the United Arab Emirates would provide the pre delivery payment, allowing the aircraft to begin arriving in Belgrade."

Og da er Etihad + Jat = Air Serbia

Quote:
Belgrade accepts Etihad's Jat offer; to be rebranded as "Air Serbia"

05JUL2013
Jat Airways (JU, Belgrade) is set to be taken over by Etihad Airways (EY, Abu Dhabi Int'l) after Belgrade accepted the Emirati-carrier's offer. The announcement was made by Serbia’s Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić. According to Serbian daily “Večernje novosti”, with a takeover agreement in place, Etihad could take control of Jat as early as August 1 with a rebranding to Air Serbia (Belgrade) due on October 27. Meanwhile, EX-YU Aviation News states that the new Etihad-appointed CEO of Jat, part of a three-man delegation, has arrived in Belgrade and has already conducted various talks with government and airline departments. Air Serbia will serve as a successor to Jat, as opposed to a new company, thereby inheriting all its routes, assets, rights and debts, though this does mean the demise of the Jat brand after 66 years in existence.

Litt mere info. Spennende planer

05AUG2013

Etihad Airways (EY, Abu Dhabi Int'l) has secured regulatory approval to acquire 49 per cent of Air Serbia (Belgrade), the successor to Jat Airways (JU, Belgrade), and been awarded a five year management contract for the Serbian national airline as well. Announcing the deal in Belgrade alongside Aleksandar Vučić, Serbia's Deputy Prime Minister, the President and Chief Executive Officer of Etihad Airways, James Hogan, said the rebranding of Jat Airways "signalled the arrival of an all-new airline and exciting new opportunities for Serbia." The Emirati carrier has appointed Dane Kondic the Chief Executive Officer of Air Serbia. Under the terms of the deal, Etihad and the Serbian Government will both inject USD40million into the carrier. Both parties will also avail further financing through shareholder loans and other funding mechanisms of up to USD60million to meet working capital requirements and support network development for the newly created airline. Fleetwise, the current Jat Airways fleet of ten B737-300s will be retired from scheduled operations, and will be replaced by leased narrow body aircraft in the short term. In the longer term, an Air Serbia order will be made for 10 brand new narrow body aircraft though in the interim, ten A319-100s featuring a dual class cabin are due before year end. During a recent meeting in Belgrade with Jat Airways staff, Mr Hogan said he would plan a joint order of "up to 500 A320neo or B737 MAX aircraft for Etihad, Air Berlin, Jet Airways and Air Serbia within the next 24-36 months." In addition to fourteen new destinations including Abu Dhabi Int'l, Banja Luka, Beirut, Budapest, Cairo Int'l, Ljubljana, Prague, Sofia, Varna and Warsaw Chopin that will be launched alongside double daily operations to Paris CDG, Athens Int'l, Vienna and Zurich, Air Serbia will be ready to launch long-haul flights within the next two to four years. At present, Air Berlin (AB, Berlin Tegel) and Air Serbia are understood to be in the process of being granted regulatory approval for codeshare flights from Germany to the United States. Air Serbia, which will begin operating flights from Belgrade to Abu Dhabi Int'l from October 2013, now becomes Etihad Airways’ sixth equity partner following investments in Air Berlin (AB, Berlin Tegel) (29.21 per cent), Air Seychelles (HM, Mahé) (40 per cent), Virgin Australia International (VA, Brisbane Int'l) (10.5 per cent), Aer Lingus (EI, Dublin Int'l) (2.99 per cent) and most recently, Jet Airways (9W, Mumbai Int'l) (24 per cent – subject to regulatory approval).

Begynner aa bli storeiere i mange selskaper etterhvert.

Quote:
Mr Hogan said the airline’s future steps for Australia included:

Airbus A380 aircraft from Sydney and Melbourne to Abu Dhabi
Construction of premium lounges at Sydney and Melbourne Airports from 2014
Additional flights from Melbourne and Brisbane to Abu Dhabi
Commencement of nonstop flights between Perth and Abu Dhabi
He also reaffirmed that Etihad Airways was already moving to increase its equity in Virgin Australia, following recent approval by the Foreign Investment Review Board to increase from a 10 per cent shareholding to 19.9 per cent.

Quote:
Etihad Airways (EY, Abu Dhabi Int'l) is to be awarded a 20-year concession to operate Belgrade airport according to plans outlined by the Serbian government. Already a 49% shareholder in Air Serbia (JU, Belgrade), the Emiratis would be required to build a new passenger terminal, runway, airport hotel and car park. However, the country's trade unions have reacted angrily to the news, warning that this would effectively give Etihad, and the UAE as a country, a monopoly over the Serbian aviation industry. Ex-YU Aviation News reports that Serb Minister of Transport, Luka Tomić, also outlined plans to unions to merge Belgrade Airport’s handling division with Air Serbia Ground Services (formerly known as SU-PORT). In addition, the airport’s new operator will form a new company which will take over employees from the current state owned enterprise. Belgrade currently owns an 83% stake in Aerodrom “Beograd - Nikola Tesla” P.E. with minority shareholders made up mostly of banks and investment funds.

Air Serbia (JU, Belgrade) will lease an A330-200 from fellow Etihad Airways (EY, Abu Dhabi Int'l) equity partner Jet Airways (9W, Mumbai Int'l) for use on transatlantic flights. As previously reported, the Serbian national carrier plans to offer a 5x weekly Belgrade-New York JFK return service from June of this year, pending government approval.

EX-YU Aviation News indicates the aircraft, which has already undergone inspection, will feature 256 seats with eighteen in business class and 238 in economy.
