Member airline TAM, now part of the LATAM group, announced today that it would leave Star Alliance in mid-2014. The precise exit date is not yet known. Up until then, TAM remains a member of Star Alliance and all customer benefits remain intact. The alliance decision was not unexpected, as competition authorities had ruled that the airline could not remain in the same alliance as Avianca-TACA, which joined last year.
