Default BA med nye checked luggage regler

Hei

New simpler baggage policy - major changes announced

Our vision for London Heathrow Terminal 5 is to create the best possible airport experience before you fly. With this in mind we have announced a new simpler checked and excess baggage policy, which will come into effect on 13 February 2007.

The new policies will bring changes to checked and excess baggage allowances and will take effect across the airline’s global network.

Changes to checked baggage allowances
Changes to maximum size and weight
Changes to excess baggage charges
Free checked baggage allowances
A single allowance system based on the number of bags that can be checked in will be introduced for travel from 13 February 2007.

FIRST and Club World
Customers will be able to check three bags into the aircraft hold free of charge.

Club Europe and World Traveller Plus
Customers will be able to check two bags into the aircraft hold free of charge.

World Traveller*, Euro Traveller, BA Connect & UK Domestic
Customers will be able to check one bag into the aircraft hold free of charge.

Key changes for Longhaul customers*
FIRST Club World World Traveller Plus World Traveller
3 bags 3 bags 2 bags 1 bag
(23kg each) (23kg each) (23kg each) (23kg)

*World Traveller customers travelling to or from the US, Canada, Caribbean, Nigeria, Brazil and Mexico will continue to be allowed two checked bags in line with the local government regulations.

Key changes for Shorthaul customers*
Club Europe Euro Traveller Domestic
2 bags (23kg each) 1 bag (23kg) 1 bag (23kg)

Infants will be allowed to check one bag, plus a collapsible baby buggy, into the aircraft hold free of charge in all classes on all routes.
For any connecting journey on British Airways, the most generous allowance will apply.
Customers will be able to carry one piece of sporting equipment free of charge in addition to their checked baggage allowance. See list of accepted sporting equipment.
A maximum bag weight of 23kg (50lbs) will apply to all bags.
*World Traveller customers travelling to or from the US, Canada, Caribbean, Nigeria, Brazil and Mexico will continue to be allowed two checked bags in line with the local government regulations.

Maximum size and weight
We will not accept any item of baggage that weighs more than 23kg (50lbs) or oversized items exceeding 2.5m x 1.00m x 0.80m (98in x 39in x 31in).

For exceptional items that weigh between 23kg - 45kg (50 - 99lbs) and which cannot be repacked e.g. musical instruments, electrical wheelchairs, some sporting items, TV news cameras, commercial spares, please notify us at time of booking or at a minimum of 24 hours before departure.

Excess Baggage
Excess baggage charges will be standardised across the network from 13 February 2007.

All baggage in excess of free checked baggage allowances will be charged at a fixed fee depending on the length of the journey.

From February 2007 customers on most routes can pre-pay online for their excess baggage and receive a 20% discount on airport charges.

For customers transferring flights, a single charge based on the longest flight will apply.

Excess baggage will be charged at a fixed fee per bag. The fixed fee is set according to whether the customer is travelling on a domestic (£30), shorthaul (£60) or longhaul (£120) flight.

Excess baggage charged at a fixed fee
Longhaul Shorthaul UK Domestic
£120 per bag or £96 per bag if paid online £60 per bag or £48 per bag if paid online £30 per bag or £24 per bag if paid online

Baggage Policy may vary on Franchise airlines. Please contact your local BA office for details.

Ett skritt fram og to tilbake...

Quote:
The new agreed allowances (two free checked-in bags for Club Europe and World Traveller Plus passengers, and three for those travelling in First and Club World, all with a 23kg per bag limit), long-haul passengers will now pay £75 per bag (down from £120), while for short-haul passengers the figure is down to £30 (from £60). Domestic passengers are now being charged £20 instead of £30 if they pay at the airport. These figures fall to £60, £24 and £16 respectively when paid online in advance.
