I kampen mot sandkasseselskapene og andre nye aktører har man stadig sett flere tettere samarbeid enn de tradisjonelle alliansene. Etter å ha starten JV med UA/AC over Atlanteren og ANA til Japan, er Kina nå neste marked ut hvor de teamer opp med Air China med en JV med full revenue sharing
