Scandinavian Airlines International improves business travel on long-haul flights to and from the US and Asia

The modern business traveller seeks the ability to work, relax and sleep onboard. They also request services that provide more comfort, privacy and well being. SAS continuously carries out surveys on customer demand and they show that the longer the journey, the greater the need for comfort and productivity onboard.

In order to meet the needs, Scandinavian Airlines International has improved its business offer. During 2005 and 2006 a number of new features have been introduced, aiming to improve the experience of long-haul flights for Scandinavian Airlines International's customers.
The new airline seat is the latest and most sensational feature of the new offer.

"This is the biggest effort that has been put into business travellers in many years and the focus has been put on providing customers with comfort as well as good opportunities to work onboard", explains Lars Lindgren, CEO of Scandinavian Airlines International.

Sleep, entertainment or work - your choice Flights to and from the US and Asia, now provide Scandinavian Airlines International passengers in business class with the option of sleeping, resting or being entertained in the new airline seat. The design and functionality element has dubbed the seats "a second generation's airline seats" and makes them comparable to a proper bed, when fully reclined. In addition they serve as a functional working place onboard.

The new seat provides more comfort and private space than traditional seats. The total space for every passenger increases, it's the widest seat in the industry, and while the seat is reclined into sleeping position it does not interfere with passengers behind. Besides making comfortable sleep possible, there is a whole set of exclusive features - a massage function is built into the seat as well as a clever storage suitable for a laptop or water bottle.

The screen, attached to the seat in front, is extra large, 10,4" and includes an entertainment system completely operated by the passenger.
With the new technique, audio-and-video-on-demand, the passengers can themselves decide when they want to watch a film or listen to the music provided onboard. Moreover, the passenger can decide if s/he wants to take a break or fast forward or rewind.

Scandinavian Airlines International is also the only airline in the world to offer wireless Internet onboard all long-haul flights. This means that all passengers (irrespective of the class they are travelling
in) are given the possibility to surf and e-mail and can therefore make the most of their time onboard and work. An additional new feature is that passengers can now watch TV programmes live on their laptops. The programmes shown are BBC World, CNBC, Euronews (Asia), MSNBC (USA) and Eurosport news.

"With all pieces of the puzzle in place, we are at Scandinavian Airlines International pleased to be able to meet the modern business travellers needs and present the best offer in Europe to and from Asia and the US", says Lars Lindgren.
