Default Centralwings

http://www9.centralwings.com/index.en.shtml

Terningkast: 4

LOT-affiliated budget carrier launched as 'Centralwings'
David Kaminski-Morrow, London (14Dec04, 11:49 GMT, 187 words)

Polish flag-carrier LOT’s new associated low-fare division is to be named ‘Centralwings’ and will initially serve routes from a primary base at Warsaw Okecie Airport.

While the new airline will use up to five Boeing 737 aircraft from the LOT mainline fleet, Centralwings will act independently of the flag-carrier with its own management structure.

Centralwings is unveiling details of its operation in Warsaw today, just days after Poland’s newly-emerging budget carrier market suffered its first casualty with the suspension of Air Polonia.

Until today the proposed operation has simply been known under its working title ‘Nowy Przewoznik’, the Polish term meaning ‘new carrier’.

There had been strong speculation that the division would be called ‘Polishwings’ – particularly since LOT had been in discussions with budget operator Germanwings over a possible low-fare co-operation. But Germanwings, which holds the rights to the name, had stated that there had been no approach to use the brand.

Two other low-fare operators, SkyEurope Airlines and Wizz Air, have already set up Polish bases and established a strong presence in the country. Poland is also being increasingly served by budget airlines from Western Europe.

Terningkast 4.
