Air Berlin, TUIfly merger talks advanced

Merger talks between Air Berlin and charter airline TUIfly are well advanced and could be concluded soon, two sources close to the company said Friday. 'It is now only a matter of a week or two,' one source said. A spokesman for Air Berlin said the two companies were looking at ways to cooperate and had been in 'constructive' talks for some time. The head of Europe's biggest travel company TUI Travel, Peter Long, said in January it was examining a range of options for TUIfly after merger talks with rivals broke down.
