Fra Helsingin Sanomat, 16DEC04:
Finnair's
CEO Keijo Suila has said in an interview in US Aviation Week that
SAS' subsidiary Blue1 does not possess the essential elements needed for a financially viable company. According to Suila, Blue1 has a load factor of 50%, its losses have tripled in 2004, and it has not made a profit in 5 years.
Suila says
SAS has made several attempts to tentatively sound out the possibility of a merger, but Finnair has turned these down. Finnair has no intention of merging with another airline even in the future or to acquire another company. Suila is happy with Finnair's successful strategy of focusing on Asia.
