Bankrupt airline US Airways has made a proposal to its pilots union to reduce pay by 19.5% in order to generate savings of US$ 1.9bn from 2004 to 2009. The company previously requested savings of only US$ 1.5bn from its pilots. US Airways has also proposed several other changes to increase productivity and reduce costs. If the labour groups do not agree to cost reductions, the company may ask permission to its Bankruptcy Court Judge to impose new terms.
