Continental jet wing clips 2 parked planes at Newark Air
(Source : AP, August 09, 2005) The wing of a taxiing Continental jet clipped two parked planes loaded with passengers at Newark International Monday. No injuries were reported. One of the jets was reported to be inoperable and the two smaller flights, both awaiting takeoff, were cancelled. The incident occurred about 12:30pm at an airport crowded by earlier weather-related delays. The National Transportation Board is investigating. All three jets are operated by Continental. The one whose wing clipped the other two planes was a 737 bound for Phoenix. The cancelled regional flights were to Little Rock, Ark, and Columbus, Ohio. The 737 with 150 people aboard was towed to a gate at Terminal C. Passengers on the other two jets were taken back to the terminal by bus, where they made other travel arrangements.
