UK unveils new next generation fighter jet called Tempest

Tempest is expected to complement the F-35 and eventually replace Typhoon.

It is understood that £2 billion in initial funding will be set out to oversee the design and build of the aircraft, which will be operational in 2035. The project is a joint venture between BAE Systems, Rolls Royce, MBDA UK Ltd and Leonardo.

It shows our allies that we are open to working together to protect the skies in an increasingly threatening future – and this concept model is just a glimpse into what the future could look like.

Det er altså Storbritannia som har vært verdensledende innen jagerflyteknologien de siste hundre årene, glem alt det dere har trodd om de andre. Godt å få stadfestet dette og få rettet opp i gamle meninger og fordommer. Rule Britannia!
