Saving the Ex-Im Bank — which provides loan guarantees to U.S. firms selling their products overseas — is a longtime bipartisan cause of Washington’s congressional delegation. One out of every four jobs in the state is dependent on foreign trade.

In particular, the Ex-Im Bank has been an invaluable took for the Boeing Co. in selling its jets abroad and competing against Europe’s heavily subsidized Airbus.
