Press release
27.3.2006
Finnair Group airport ground handling service company Northport Oy is founding a subsidiary to provide ground handling services from 1 October 2006 at Oslo’s main airport Gardermoen. The new company’s first client is the quickly expanding Norwegian budget airline Norwegian Air Shuttle. Norwegian Air Shuttle is the second largest airline operating from Gardermoen with nearly 400 departures a week.
Northport’s partner is the flexible staffing company Proffice operating in all Nordic countries. Proffice, listed in Stockholm Stock Exchange, has more than 10,000 employees and provide temporary staffing, recruitment services and outsourcing as well as career and development programs. “The operating model for the new company of ours will be the same as for FinnHandling, our subsidiary at
Stockholm Arlanda Airport. Thanks to flexible personnel management we can offer airlines quality ground handling services at competitive prices,” explains Northport Managing Director Tero Vauraste.
Due to the nature of air transport, personnel resource needs vary depending on the time of day. The cooperation between Northport and Proffice allow fixed costs to be minimized and personnel resources to be directed according to needs.
“Proffice has successfully cooperated with Northport at Arlanda airport since June 2003, and we are pleased that we will now be able to expand our cooperation in the Nordic region to include Gardermoen. We are looking forward to this cooperation with Northport and Norwegian,” says Lars Walström,
CEO Proffice AB.
