Accident: Thai A388 at Hong Kong on Aug 30th 2013, turbulence injures 39

A Thai Airways Airbus A380-800, registration HS-TUA performing flight TG-600 from Bangkok (Thailand) to Hong Kong (China) with 500 passengers and 26 crew, was descending towards Hong Kong when the aircraft encountered turbulence causing occupants and loose items to hit the cabin ceiling and fall back onto the floor. The aircraft continued for a safe landing on Chep Lap Kok Airport's runway 25R. One crew member received serious injuries (fracture of collarbone), 38 passengers received minor injuries in the turbulence encounter. The injured were taken to hospitals.

The airline confirmed 39 injuries as result of the turbulence encounter.

Passengers reported that the fasten seat belt signs had already been illuminated for a while but a number of passengers were still around the aisles of the aircraft or had not secured their seat belts when the turbulence caused all loose items and unsecured humans to lift off, impact the ceiling causing the damage to the overhead lockers and ceiling panels, and fall back onto the floor again.
