Finnair employee died in work-related accident

A Finnair aircraft mechanic passed away in a tragic work-related accident at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport on Friday evening at around 10pm as he was doing a technical check of the cargo hold of a Finnair Leisure Traffic Boeing 757 aircraft. When the accident occurred, the passengers of the flight had already left the aircraft and the baggage had been unloaded from the cargo hold.

The accident did not have witnesses, but a colleague noticed it as he drove by. The authorities are investigating the accident and causes leading to it.

Finnair staff are deeply shocked and their thoughts are with the loved ones of the mechanic.

The last time a Finnair employee died on duty was when a flight crew member was killed in a hotel fire in Cairo in the 1990s.
