22. November var en Awacs fra Geilenkirchen, LX-N 90442, på Flesland og hadde ”Touch & Go”. Det var hovedattraksjonen denne stunden jeg var der, bortsett fra en avgang med Siv. Ellers var det stille og rolig, men to nye Norwegian maskiner dukket også opp. Det er gjerne litt mange bilder av Awacsen, men slik ble det denne gangen.

Nato/Otan Boeing E-3 AWACS
The AWACS (Airborne Warning And Control System) or AEWAC (Airborne Early Warning And Control) is a name for a Radar Surveillance plane with a large range and large radar range.
In the past there have been several AWACS planes. Grumman produced the E-2 'hawkeye' a smaller version of an AWAC with two turboprop enginges to operate from air carriers. Another , Russian version of the AWACS was the Ilyushin IL-76 with a Radar Disk on top (Compass 50). The most succesfull version is still the E-3 'Sentry' (B707). A newer version is the B767 AWACS , for Japan.
