14 October at 2.40 pm and before a crowd of 30,000 spectators the Swedish baron Carl Calle Cederström made with his Blériot XI (wingspan 7.20 metres (23.61feet) and 56 hp engine) the first flight of a heavier-than-air craft in Norway. He made a flight of 23 minutes and reached a height of 300 metres (983.9 feet).
