Lufthansa Douglas DC-8-51 made by "Herpa". Scale 1:200.
In early 2009 "Herpa" sold this model of an aircraft that was part of the Lufthansa-fleet for only a very short period. In 1965 Lufthansa leased a Douglas DC-8-51 from Trans International Airlines because Boeing couldn't deliver ordered 707-330B jets on time. Actually the leased aircraft was the first DC-8 ever built. It was called "Ship One" by the Douglas Aircraft Company and carried the registration N8008D.
The heavy 1:200 scale model is 22,9 cm long, wing-span is 21,7 cm. It was sold in this original box. I bought the DC-8 in June 2009.
