Default Ryanair rethinks Milan expansion

Ryanair rethinks Milan expansion
(Source : Reuters, January 14, 2005)

Ryanair is partly reversing plans to expand in Italy due to a dispute with airport authorities in Milan. Ryanair said it had negotiated cost savings and a longer contract with the airport in Nov in exchange for increased passenger numbers, but the airport could no longer fulfil one of the terms of the agreement. Ryanair, hoping to capitalise on the woes of grounded Italian rival Volare, previously said it would fly 9m - 10m passengers in Italy in 2005.
